Bulgarian Vanya tried out the metal Industry in Finland: "Ferromek is a great employer"

At Ferromek, we've experienced strong growth and development in recent years. Thanks to this, we've been able to hire more people, and today our workforce consists of around 50 employees. The company's growth journey wouldn't have been possible without international labor—today, Ferromek is a multicultural workplace where Swedish, Finnish, and English are the working languages.

One of those who worked in production over the past year and recently moved to Germany is Vanya. Vanya came to us through a staffing agency when we needed additional resources to handle a production peak. Her duties included CNC machining, primarily milling.

"We have positive experiences with international labor, and Vanya is no exception. She is highly motivated and has a strong work ethic. She has versatile experience in the industry, is cheerful and positive, and eager to learn more. Her work has been of good quality, and we are very pleased with her contribution," says CEO Kim Åkerlund.

But what is it like to come to Finland as a foreigner looking for a job in the metal industry? How did Vanya enjoy working at Ferromek, and what did she think of the tasks, the workplace culture, and Finland overall? We were curious, so we asked!

The workplace and job tasks

"I have nothing to complain about when it comes to working at the company. Everything is perfect, and thanks to Ferromek's team, I’ve learned to use new technology and deepened my knowledge in metalworking. The workplace is clean and pleasant, and the colleagues are kind and positive. Everyone helps each other, and the organization works well."

Ferromek as an employer

"Ferromek is a great employer, one that listens and is engaged with its staff. I can only wish them good health and an abundance of orders from satisfied customers!"

Finland and job hunting as a foreigner

"I’ve never been treated poorly or experienced bad treatment from locals because I'm a foreigner. My personal experience of Finns is that people in Kronoby are friendlier, more talkative, and smile more than those in South Karelia, where I lived for the first two years I was in Finland."

"I have nothing bad to say about Finland. Everything is wonderful—the people, nature, sights... everything! I miss Finland a lot and might come back soon."

We thank Vanya for her time with us and wish her all the best in the future!
